These are indeed strange circumstances. I can't remember the last time I saw Tiger Woods at 12 over par.

In either case, it gives a whole new meaning to "playing 18 holes"

He's finished. No way can a guy come back in a sport like this where your mental state is 90% of what you're doing. They have the 'Tiger Suicide Watch' on Entertainment Tonight..a bit ridiculous.

I'm not sure he's done. This is a media firestorm. Look at Greinke, he had a legitimate disorder and he came back to win a Cy Young. If pitching isn't 90% mental state, it's 85.

you're kidding right? There's no way in hell Tiger is done, no matter how bad this gets. For someone who's biggest dream in life is to hold the most majors to quit now is something I guarantee he won't do, it doesn't matter how many girls he's tossin' it to. I say he takes time off until just before the Masters this year and then goes from there.

He might be best to take off all of 2010, that gives him more then enough time to let this die down, and for him to get things in his life worked out.

I'm with you here. I would be surprised to see him miss the masters this year. If he take the whole year off the PGA Tour will be fucked. They're in the midst of negotiating new TV and sponsorship deals and it's proven that ratings decrease by 50% when he's not playing.

It's really easy for anyone not personally involved in this to say whether he should or shouldn't play in the Masters, Pebble, US Open, etc. That is for Tiger and his family to decide. You could list a ton of reasons why he could play and we could also list a ton why he shouldn't.

Can't we all just STFU and let the Woods family decide how they want to handle this??

No, he'll come back and will most likely be just as good of a golfer as always... but he'll never be the same iconic, I-want-my-kids-to-grow-up-to-be, Tiger Woods.

Call me crazy, but I would never want my (future) kids to grow up to be like Tiger....accept maybe to have his skills....everything else about the guy I wouldn't want in my kids!

    scha·den·freu·de (shädn-froid)
    n.
Pleasure derived from the misfortunes of others.

Columnist George Will, who seems to enjoy the seven deadly sins almost as much as he does baseball, decided to add a pleasurable eighth — schadenfreude.

"Sins can be such fun. Of the seven supposedly deadly ones, only envy does not give the sinner at least momentary pleasure. And an eighth, schadenfreude — enjoyment of other persons' misfortunes — is almost the national pastime."

Oh man, it just keeps getting worse:
NEW YORK (AP)—A Canadian doctor who has treated golfer Tiger Woods, swimmer Dara Torres and NFL players is suspected of providing athletes with performance-enhancing drugs, according to a newspaper report.

I find it interesting/amusing how the title of this thread is still accurate, despite how much the story has changed since it was written.

It actually wouldn't shock me if we found out Woods had used steroids in the past.

Totally...although we should change it to 'shit' instead of 'condition'...or 'seriously fucked'

I mentioned a steroid rumor I had heard after the knee injury last year and near about got lynched that I would dare include Tiger's name and steroid in the same sentence.

I feel like digging that thread up but I am going to let it go.

What I heard today was all about HGH.

ah, then that's a pretty shitty and exploitative move by Vanity Fair... but it will probably sell more magazines.
