I'd like to see him win it, but I still don't think he has a productive year if he does.

One could argue that the NFL's drug policy pushes these guys to this stuff. Coke is out of your system in a few days, but pot is there for 30 days-ish.

Though if I was making the salary of an NFL 1st round draft pick, I think I could probably resist.
I'm sorry that you interpreted my incredibly funny joke as horribly offensive.

To me, its typical coach talk defending the idea to have surgery. I am not as optimistic that Porter will be out there for week one, not that I would have drafted him anyway. Hamstring tendon surgery for a wide receiver is waaaaaay different than say Manning having surgery to remove a bursa sac.

I just dropped him for Deuce McAllister. As you know, not a big fan of Deuce, but I can't see him being on the FA. I know he is banged up and is always an injury threat, but my other options were/are: Ahman Green, Ahmad Bradshaw, Bryant Johnson, Warrick Dunn, Tatum Bell, Chris Brown, Jerious Norwood, Gerg Olsen......

My starting WRs are: TO, Brandon Marshall, Santonio Holmes... So I do have to pay attention to Marshall.

My starting RBs are: Westbrook and Brandon Jacobs.

No bench receivers at this point, but have Kevin Smith, Felix Jones, Deuce McAllister as bench backs. I also have Dallas Clark and Vern Davis, so I can try to trade Davis (or Clark) for a receiver better than Williams anyway,

Ben Roethlisberger is my #1 with Matt Schaub on the bench. While we are at it... Chicago and Tennessee are my defenses and Nate Kaeding is the kicker.

Yeah.... my big concern is Brandon Marshall... Good solid player... but will he miss games? We start three WRs. I'll need to snag another WR just in case. There isn't much that is appealing on the WW right now, so this is why I am thinking of possibly moving Clark or Davis.

    You shoulda taken T. Bell!
I can't believe i drafted him twice. I just have a feeling Kevin Smith will flop, and he'll get most of the carries.

I laughed when I saw he was available... Hey, I do have Smith...I could handcuff Taint Bell to him.

In normal leagues i'd never touch Bell but the amount of RB hoarding in those 2 leagues is crazy. There's definitely guys to grab before Bell from the ones you listed.

Back to on topic, i liked Williams as a sleeper this season though he probably wasn't getting 10 td's again. This kills most of his value though as it's possible he could miss months of time.

Kevin Smith will not flop. Seen him quiet a bit when I was at UCF and he will be a durable back in the league. IMO.

yeah from what I'm hearing too he's doing pretty well so far and word is he's gonna be a pretty good back. Tatum Bell shouldn't even be in the NFL anymore.

Was a big fan of his in Denver thought he could be something but I agree.

I really think Kevin Smith is going to be a horse now, and in the future.

WR problems should make Garrard a tough start. Not too sure how serious the Williams knee is though?
Check out the video...some pretty cool cuts

Just went on a rant over in the Bears thread on Grossman... Here is another piece of shit...

"It's my belief we'll need two weeks of practice with Jerry before he can play in a game," Del Rio told reporters on Monday. "If he doesn't practice this week, I would say I would hold him out of the opener." Del Rio confirmed that Porter would not practice today. The Jaguars will practice on Tuesday before flying to Washington on Wednesday for Thursday's preseason finale. "When he returns, we'll start the timer," Del Rio said of Porter.
Del Rio is usually pretty strong to his word, so when he says the timer starts when Porter first gets back to practice, I would think he is pretty serious.

Again, on ESPN's ticker - as late as three minutes ago, they are reporting Taylor as being arrested. ESPN two wrong in two days?

"He was never formally arrested, never booked, didn't post a bond and he has not been charged with anything. We're pretty confident obviously that he won't be charged with anything.I can tell you, there is no way he could've been arrested because he never would have been given a notice to appear."
Big difference between getting arrested and ticketed. We'll see if more comes of it or not, but no need to be concerned at this point, unless Goodell decides he needs to get involved.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP)—Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Richard Collier was shot and critically wounded outside an apartment building early Tuesday as he and a former Jacksonville teammate waited for two women they had met at a nightclub, police said.

Collier, 26, and former Jaguars defensive end Kenneth Pettway were waiting in a Cadillac Escalade when a gunman fired into the vehicle, said Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office spokesman Ken Jefferson. Collier was shot several times, but it wasn’t clear where he was hit.

Collier was in critical condition at Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, a nursing supervisor said early Tuesday. Later, spokesman Chris Turner said the hospital was no longer giving updates on Collier’s condition. There are a variety of reasons that can happen, such as a request by relatives.

Several Jaguars, including running back Maurice Jones-Drew, offensive tackle Khalif Barnes and linebackers Mike Peterson and Clint Ingram gathered at the hospital. Others convened at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium, all of them concerned about their teammate and friend.

“The guys are in shock,” Pro Bowl running back Fred Taylor said. “You see this kind of thing happen all the time on TV, but you never expect it in your own back yard. He’s a good dude. I just pray for him and his family and wish the best for them. I’m sure he’ll pull through.”
Team owner Wayne Weaver said in a statement he was shocked and “deeply saddened by this morning’s news about Richard Collier. We have been informed that Richard has had surgery and he’s in critical but stable condition. The entire Jaguars family is praying for Richard and his family at this time.”

The motive behind the attack was unknown, and the sheriff’s office was investigating. Pettway, who was released in final cuts Saturday, was not injured.

The shooting happened around 2:45 a.m. in a middle- to upper middle-class neighborhood just west of downtown Jacksonville and blocks from the St. Johns River. The players had gone to the apartment complex so the women could drop off their car, authorities said.

The women, who appeared to be in their 20s, declined comment when they were escorted by police back to the complex midmorning Tuesday. One was wearing a short, silver dress and the other was wearing a short, black one.
Collier is the third NFL player to be shot in the past 18 months. Washington Redskins star Sean Taylor was fatally shot during what police said was a botched burglary attempt at his Miami-area home in November. Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams was killed when his rented limousine was sprayed with bullets minutes after leaving a New Year’s party at a club in 2007.

Entering his third year after making the team as an undrafted rookie free agent, Collier competed for the starting job at left tackle but was beaten out by Khalif Barnes in the preseason.

Still, the Jaguars believe Collier could be a future starter. They signed him to a contract extension earlier this year despite an arrest last season.
The 6-foot-7, 345-pound linemen was arrested Nov. 3 after officers found him asleep behind the wheel at a McDonald’s drive-thru window. Collier failed field sobriety tests and had a blood-alcohol level of .096, according to police. In Florida, it is illegal to drive with a blood-alcohol level of .08 or higher.
Collier was suspended two games and fined by coach Jack Del Rio.

This handout provided by the N…
    AP - Sep 2, 9:25 EDT

Collier’s attorney disputed the police report and recommended that his client go to trial, but Collier didn’t want the team to have to deal with the negative attention it would have generated. So he pleaded no contest and accepted six months of probation and a suspension of his driver’s license. He publicly vowed to stay out of trouble.

Coming out of high school in Shreveport, La., Collier didn’t have the grades or test scores to attend most colleges, so he stayed home with his mother and got a job in the produce department at Wal-Mart.

He worked there for two years before deciding to give football another chance. He enrolled at Tyler Junior College in Texas, about 90 miles west of Shreveport. He showed up weighing 390 pounds, having not lifted a weight since high school.

Collier quickly got his grades—and body—in shape and worked his way into the starting lineup. He transferred to Valdosta State in 2004 and helped the Blazers win the Division II national championship that season. He earned All-America honors as a senior in 2005, yet still failed to impress many NFL scouts.

The Jaguars were the only team to bring Collier in for a workout before the draft, so signing with Jacksonville as an undrafted rookie was an easy decision. His only other choice, he thought, was to go back to the produce section.

“It took me to lose everything to recognize how much I had,” Collier said during his rookie season. “It was a blessing, really. I found out how it would be if I didn’t work hard and apply myself.”
    Damn...

Doctors: Jaguars tackle Collier is paralyzed and had leg amputated

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Richard Collier, shot earlier this month, is paralyzed below the waist and had his left leg amputated.
Dr. Andy Kerwin, a surgeon for the University of Florida at Shands Jacksonville hospital, said Collier, who had 14 bullet wounds, is now in good condition after being previously listed in critical condition.
Kerwin said Collier had bullet wounds to the back, left groin, left legs and right buttock. In addition, a bullet severed his spinal cord, paralyzing him from the waist down. The amputation was the result of damage to his left leg and groin, which had blood clots.
The 26-year-old Collier had five bullets removed from his urinary bladder and suffered bouts of pneumonia, infections and renal failure.
The player will undergo physical therapy to learn to get from his bed to a wheelchair. He will never walk again, the doctor said.
Collier was on a ventilator for about three weeks and has no memory of the shooting, Kerwin said.
"His overall condition has improved greatly," Kerwin said. "We expect him to be discharged soon."
