I love watching all the dads in their box whoop it up. Why doesn't Kadri's dad wear a #43 leaf jersey? Could it be because he's a habs fan?

That is what I was thinking as well.

Not sure why Kessel's Dad didn't wear one as well. Man does Phil look like his Dad.

So, maybe a bit early, but do we resign Bolland soon, trade him before the deadline or ride it out til seasons end and potentially letting him walk for nothing?

    Sign him.

Bolland has been a winner every where he has played.

He won the OHL Cup in minor hockey. He had 4 points in the Championship game.

He won the Memorial Cup with London in 2004-'05.

He won Gold with team Canada at the 2006 World Jr's.

Two Stanley Cups with Chicago scoring the winning goal last year to win the Cup.

Hopefully he doesn't have have the same 30 years of pain that we've had. But my (eventual) boys will be cheering right along with him.

Nice, but I still feel for him with his dad having that heart attack and the coaches waiting until after the game to tell him.

Nobodys laughing right now between those two guys but Kessel and team USA walk away from Sochi with more reasons to be upset with themselves than any other squad by far.

If someone has to laugh, I'd say Ovy and his team that shot 40 on Finland and got beat by probably the best goalie in the NHL, not the team that got owned 5-0 by a weak opponent that wasn't even remotely comparable on paper (Finland and Russia actually are comparable with Rask factored in but both rosters are 1/2 of team USA's).

Yes I see the date on the post. But you obviously wouldn't have posted it if you had waited 3 days, so this needed saying

I saw a stat not that long ago that said since Kessel was picked last in that all-star game he's something like 2nd in goals in the NHL and 3rd in points in the NHL. Only two players with more points since are Malkin and Stamkos.

They both didnt win a medal, and this doesn't mean much, but Kessel was named the top forward at the Olympics.

I know he won but I doubt hes happy with his tournament regardless. USA picked on weaker teams and he did so better than anybody. But he was invisible or even a detriment in their 3 competitive games including vs Russia.

To be honest, I don't know how he was picked last when he was leading the NHL in scoring at the time.

I also think he was a bit of a silly choice for best tournament forward because he did nothing in the important games. But when you consider how difficult it is to pick out one noteworthy forward performance on Russia, USA, Canada, Sweden, or Finland (Really only Datsyuk and Selanne come to mind and Datsyuk didn't go far enough to be considered), I guess I understand. Selanne deserved best forward in addition to his MVP trophy, especially when you weigh the bronze medal match vs USA more heavily than others.

I would've given it to Getzlaf...

Anyways, back to Leafland. Bolland is back and there are lineup decisions still to be made. Holland down already, I wonder what the lines look like in the first game back.

    I'm thinking something like..

    JVR-Bozak-Kessel
    Lupul-Kadri-Kulemin
    Clarkson-Bolland-Raymond
    Bodie/McLaren-McClement-Orr

Those top two lines were hot before the break.

Any word on McClement? He hit his face hard in the last game.

For Canada and the USA, it's gold or bust. Finland cares a lot more about the bronze medal than either of those teams. I knew when we were down to the final 4 that whoever lost out of Can/US would likely also lose the next game.

Looks good to me although I see Kulemin on the 3rd line wing and Clarkson as the 2nd line RW - I think they are going to give Clarkson a run on that line to see if he can get going. (and Kuly should fit in well with Bolland and Raymond)

Only reason I put Kulemin on the 2nd line is because the top two lines were hot before the break.

So, now that I'm way over my hockey crush on Nash, I continue to crush on Toews but I think the guy that really gets my heart a pattering is Shea Weber. If there is a God I hope he finds a way to get Weber traded to the Leafs!! (boing!!!!)

    Haha oh geez.

Next three years Weber makes $14M. Drops to $12M the next two years then $6M the next four seasons after that.

Watching Nash in his pretty limited role these Olympics, I still can't believe the Leafs wouldn't give up Jake Gardiner in a deal to get him... as if Gardiner was THAT untouchable just a short time ago.

For me the guy I would love (dreaming of) with the Leafs is Corey Perry. Sweet hands and he has good size.

So the Leafs have 22 games left. That is 44 points up for grabs. They are at 70 points right now, if they can pickup at least 25 points that brings them to 95 points. Not counting last seasons lockout season, the last four full NHL seasons 95 points is a lock in the East to make the playoffs.

I'm hoping they don't make any big moves at the deadline. With the cap going up they can afford to extend Bolland, Raymond & Franson, so need to worry about their free agent status. (Plus they have an additional $2.5M in cap space with Tucker, Armstrong, Frattin & Scrivens coming off the books).

I don't see them having any parts I want them to get rid of that could draw any sort of worthwhile return, so their best move is to just stay the course.
