I would hope we'd pass on Richards if he gets bought out - we already have enough good not great players...we need more great guys if any changes are made.

I was hoping Jumbo Joe was going to make it to July 1st but SJ was smart and locked him up. Picture him getting Kessel and JVR the puck, wow.

Yeah it would've been amazing. Although I think Joe's best years are behind him. I think we need a young Centre because those veterans usually stick with their clubs until the end.

Stastny or ROR intrigue me in Colorado. For my own selfish reasons though, I'd rather see the Leafs focus their efforts at other positions, haha.

Leafs aren't to bad down the middle with Bozak, Kadri, Bolland, Holland, McClement. Key will be to find Holland a spot when Bolland is back. Talk that they want to try him on the wing but he's never played there in pro or in Jr. I think he will do ok on the wing.

Tim Gleason is a freaking warrior. Dude will do anything it takes to win. Love that trade even more now.

No way can they touch the top two lines when Clarkson is back. He's going to have to play on the 3rd line. Lot of money for a 3rd line player but they can't break up the top two lines right now.

    Darren Dreger twitter.

Oilers acquire Mark Fraser from Leafs for Cam Abner and Hartikainen.
    Damien Cox.

Moving Fraser gives Leafs a little wiggle room, $1.125m one-way deal off the books. He's UFA this summer.
Leafs had to do something with one of Fraser or Ranger. One of them was not getting back in with the play of Gleason, Rielly and Gardiner the last little while.

Eakins is slowly getting his boys from the Marlies.

Who is Cam Abner? Is there a typo there? Can't find him in hockeyDB, and all Google links about him are about the trade.

    Edit -

Found it, it's Cameron Abney.... another enforcer.

All the media are saying he's playing in the ECHL right now. Some are saying the Leafs are thinking of sending him to the Marlies or there ECHL team.

Clearly a cap move, and a chance to give Fraser some more minutes in Edmonton

    Fraser for nothing.

Holland said they haven't talked to him about playing the wing yet...he doesn't get it. He's willing to try it. Missed practice today with bad lace bite.

Missing a practice won't solve lace bite. My brother had it pretty bad, had to get both his ankles cut open and shaved down. He was on crutches for an entire off season. It's not fun whatsoever.

Yea but he isn't really in a position to miss any time. He's been getting treatment all morning, I'm sure he'll play through it.

Tim and Sid brought this up today on the radio, has anyone checked out the plus minus for the Leafs? Dion gets shit on by a lot of people but he's leading the team with a +14, Gunnar is 2nd with a +11 after that Bolland is 3rd at +4. Most of the other D are near or at the bottom. Franson is -13.

I think Clarkson could play a key role on a winning team but not at his salary on the 3rd line. I think if it's possible, he might get traded at some point in the offseason perhaps. The reality is that you can't be paying $10+mm to your 3rd line Centre and Winger...which would be the hit if we resign Bolland in the Summer. (Clarkson will also be a lot harder to trade in 2-3 yrs than he is now given his age)

I could see Franson getting moved. Rielly and Gardiner being on the upswing combined with Franson not being a fit with Phaneuf will make Cody redundant. I could also see Holland (or Kadri who I think makes more sense on the wing...despite his recent solid play as the pivot) making Raymond redundant as well, but with his cheapie contract they may ride him out til Summer and simply lose him as a UFA.

I really hope they resign Kulemin who has quietly been playing very well over the last month. He's a guy that imo would be excellent as a 3rd line winger who can slide up the lineup if need be....and much cheaper than Clarkson I'd think as Kuly might fetch $3.5mm in a new deal (my fear is it may be more to keep him from the KHL...hopefully he'd rather play here for less money...gulp). Kuly + Bolland + a young kid on the 3rd line makes sense to me.

I also think it's time to ditch Orr on the 4th line. If the dude isn't going to fight than what's the point. Ashton looks good as does Bodie and I'd rather those two riding on McClements wing than Orr. Keep McLaren as an insurance policy in case we really need a proper goon. With Devane and Broll waiting in the wings, old man Orr is not needed as he once was. Perhaps he could be used as a trade sweetener...

Just don't forget Clarkson has a limited NTC and NMC.

Also dont forget the cap will be going up.

Greg McKegg could make his NHL debut tomorrow with Leafs. According to @BrentLaleCTV, he's en route back to Toronto from San Antonio now.

McKegg has 16 points in his last 15 AHL games. Joins Leafs as insurance in case banged up JVR/Holland are unable to play.

I have always liked McKegg. He's not going to come in and score 3 goals a game, but he's a smart player.

is that the incentive for a player to start playing well? OK, let's see if I can repeat my 30-goal season - Kulemin

    You've been traded - Nonis

Might have more to do with Kulemin being a UFA after this season. Maybe they don't plan on resigning him and want something back for him.

I would have no prob if they resigned him but this might be what they are thinking.

Bolland, Raymond, McClement will also be UFA's and Reimer and Gardiner will be a RFA's so they have a few players to sign.

I like Raymond. He's a solid bottom 6 guy who can fill in in the top 6. He's cheap as well.

I would be fine if they could find away to sign both Kulemin and Raymond.

They would get more back in a trade for Kulemin though.

I'm not a big Raymond fan. I think after his little hot streak, he hasn't really done much. He can skate but guys like him are a dime a dozen. See: Lee Stempniak, Andrew Cogliano, etc.

Holland out tonight...walking on crutches. Ouch.

Notice how it was nearly identical to what happened with Florida with them being down 2-0 and then coming back to win 6-3. Even an empty-netter for both games
