Sharks in 5. Couture and Pavelski leading the way. Nemo outduels Schneid and Lu.

Really? Not even close ? Hm The Sharks swept the Nucks this season didn't they? Both have a history of playoff disappointments but why so confident in Vancouver? Nemo will be the better goaltender and this isn't Jumbo or Patty's team anymore. This is Couture and Pavelski's team. We are all entitled to our own crazy opinions (hell I said Pens in 4 LOL) but just wondering your thoughts?

None of those previous matchups featured a Nucks team icing a stable roster. Most notably, Kesler wasn't in any of them.

But truthfully, I just feel as though the Canucks are better-built for playoff hockey than the Sharks are -- right now anyway. Niemi pulling the same frustrating performance against the Canucks as he did while he was a Hawk is only thing that would swing it the other way, I think... and I'm not comfortable predicting that right now.

If the Sharks can't get out of the 1st round then they should make some changes. Thornton, Marleau and Boyle are not getting any younger.

This Canucks team is not that great. The Sharks are great. Sharks in 5.

Seeding means nothing in a 48 game season beyond Chicago/Pittsburgh. The conferences don't accurately reflect the picture and SJ is certainly the second best team in the West with LA and St Louis close behind. Vancouver can slide in at 5th best. If I'm being generous.

This Sharks team is scary good and scary deep. This can easily be their year. They can beat the Hawks, they're the only team in the West I might be crazy enough to even predict to win in 7 games vs Chi. THATS the matchup I'm dying for.

But I digress. Vancouver is talented and deep but the Thornton line outplays the Sedins thoroughly and decides the series.

I really think this series comes down to which Sharks team shows up. The highs & lows of this season were so definingly opposite. I have seen the Sharks play some really great hockey and I have seen them shit the bed so many times this season as well. I def agree if the Sharks can't advance this year Jumbo Patty etc need to be moved. But make no mistake, Couture is now the leader of this team with Pavelski not far behind him. I am thinking & hoping the playoff pressure on Jumbo and Patty eases up this post-season bc Coooch & The Big Pavelski are gonna make some series changing plays. Playoff disappointments is practically a given in San Jose but another deep run could def. be in their future. I like that they are under the media playoff radar, so to speak & think that will also benefit them greatly. Keep talking about LA & the Hawks you know. As much as I want to see LA/SJ series or CHI/SJ series I think Vancouver is the best possible first round match up for the Sharks. If SJ shows up & plays the way we have seen them play at times this season I think they handle the Nucks and move on to the 2nd round with some confidence and ability to go all the way to the big dance

3 minutes left of the second - This is the best game of this young playoff season so far. Fantastic hockey both ways, balanced and competitive, very physical yet very skillful, both teams are leaving it all out there. Great goalie play all around. Sick snipe by Couture to tie.

Couture is a hell of a hockey player! Easily my favorite Shark since Murray is gone. Agree, great game. 3rd period should be intense!

AWWWWWW that's fucked up! I think he is kind of cute, horse teeth & all. I'm sure he has no trouble with the ladies!

No answer for Cooch in game 1. He will be a leader and thorn in the Nucks side all series. So happy watching him!

Great game by SJ. That's what I want to see!

For sure. I said earlier that this series and the Sharks playoff run all depends on "which" Sharks team shows up. Incredible highs and impossible lows in such a short season. One thing that has been consistent is that Nemo has been lights out all season for them so if they can continue to put pucks in the net I see no prb getting past Vancouver and whoever else is next.

No answer for Cooch in game 1. Get used to hearing that!

I really love Ryan Kessler. Definitely my kind of player. Schneider in the net tonight. Won't matter? Gomer back in line up for the Sharks. Man it is Sunday night, we had a full day of hockey & I am ready for more! Got to LOVE first round playoff hockey. Great games every night. Full line up on Sunday. I hope our nightcap is a fantastic finish. I am looking for a big game out of Couture and Boyle tonight. Marleau as well. The tank gonna be rockin! Haven't seen SJ playing playoff hockey this good in quite a while... go get em boys!

Me as well...

If I'm Vancouver's GM this offseason (I would say Mike Gillis but I think he should be fired), I clean house.

Clean house starting from the GM... Gillis should've resolved the whole goaltending situation from the beginning and use that asset to fill their void (i.e. scoring). I'm getting sick of hearing about "Schneider / Luongo" after each game when there are a whole lot more issues than goaltending.

They better start Luongo in Game 4.

Exactly my thoughts. The way Gillis has handled the Luongo situation has been totally unprofessional in my eyes.

Niemi is under rated and so are the Sharks. I can see them circling the Killer Whales in the water now!! They will win one of the next four and move on, I am a little pissed that the Canucks (Bieksa) are fucking chirping to the media. STFU and play hockey

The Sharks are just so damn good. Van is lucky its a 1 shot game through 2. The Sharks are on point so far this year and it looks like they're gonna get a nice long break before round 2 which is important for a team that seems to gas out regularly at the end of long postseason runs.

I'll give some applause to Burns. :muahaha:

It was kind of odd to see the Sharks not deflate in a big playoff game when they went down. Obviously penalties played a role but SJ deserved the wins and Neimi looks good. Hopefully the time off doesnt rust them up.

Exactly what I thought and hoped would happen & expect to continue. Logan Couture is a fucking stud! Total all around player who will wear the C someday soon. With Pavs and Coutch playing so well & really leading this team on the ice it takes a ton of pressure off of Patty and Joe, which in returns lets them calm the fuck down and play their game instead of cracking under the pressure & weight of having to lead and produce. Great series from all involved and Nemo has been lights out all season long in net. Loving Burns right now. Love love love. Oh and as much as it pains me to say it, Raffi Torres was a huge piece of the puzzle and a great addition to this team. Way to go Wilson! Grizzly team with a ton of talent who probably have no fear after such a great first series. Great goaltending and depth. Killer PP. Everything I thought the Pens would be in the East. Thank you Sharks for a great series it keeps me off the ledge in Pittsburgh LOL. Now kick back and heal up bc round 2 right around the corner! YEAAAAHHHH :)
