Yawn. What a fucking boring disaster in the West this year. LA in 6

Kings in 7 for me as well. I'm rooting for for Coyotes to take it all, though.

Fuck I don't know. Phoenix in 6 I guess. Battle of the goaltenders? Huge J.Quick fan and have always loved Shane Doan. So really, I don't care, just hope the West wins it all.

Goaltender takes the Conn this year.

Kovy and Parise are the likely winners in NJ for the Conn Smythe based on current paces. The other 3 teams are no question, their goalies will win it for sure if they go all the way.

Yeah for sure. Kovalchuk gets my vote!

No respect for Phoenix or tons of respect for LA? Just curious

Tons for LA. If you look at their roster, it's one of the best 8th seeded teams we've ever seen. Quick, to their very underrated d, to their top 6. It's a very complete team IMO.

I also just wanted to go out on a limb so I could be the guy who called the (unlikely) sweep when it happened.

Wow. Cinderella might find her glass slipper. Kings are amazing right now.

LA is the only team left right now playing true playoff hockey. NYR and Phoenix are just riding a hot goalie and NJ can't seem to get consistent anywhere. LA is looking way hard to stop.

The Rangers are playing pretty good defensively as well, giving up less shots than the Kings, blocking a ton of shots (Girardi & McDonagh are #1 & 2 and they have 4 of the top 6 shot blockers still playing hockey), and everytime I see McDonagh make a good play (like him getting back on Parise in game 1 and neutralizing him without taking a penalty) I hate the Gomez trade more and more.

Fair enough, but offensively they've only played 20 minute games all playoffs long and its been frustrating to watch at times.

Torts obviously hasn't been very happy with it too. Benched Gaborik for 17 of 20 minutes in a third period where they were down by one goal. In NY you have a team of offensively-challenged nobodies, a semi-offensive star in Brad Richards, and a top 10 player in the league in Marion Gaborik. For Torts to bench Gabs for 17 minutes in the third, he must've really ignored some straightforward coaching advice.

They showed Gaborik's last shift before he got benched an incredibly long time, it was pretty awful the way he turned it over and failed to play his man properly on the game-tying shot. He got 3 minutes of icetime in the 22 minutes that followed. I hope that decision was based on a culmination of plays, not just that one mistake, because NYR did nothing offensively the rest of the game while NJD scored the game-winning goal. Sitting Gaborik healthy for that much time is a pretty bold move, especially if it was just some silly emotional reaction (Not above Torts). But I'm sure there was more to it. NYR can not even think the word "offense" with Gaborik, Torts has to get him on the right page.

Man, the LA media just can't seem to do anything right in their hockey coverage. It's hilarious.
