I would have taken the St. Louis Cardinals in 4 or 5... It was the same set up as the Phillies had last year against the Giants. The Cards were the hot team coming in. I believe the Phillies expected to win and therefore didn't show up. Been hearing who gets the blame??? Lee??? The bats??? Utley??? Howard??? Manuel??? The fans??? The Phillies could have put in on lock down if they could have held onto that 4-0 lead that Lee gave them.

I would have taken the Brewers only because they are better that the Backs.

I would have taken Texas because I believe they are the hottest team coming into the post season.

I would have taken the Yankees, only because they are the Evil Empire...and I am happy that Detroit did it.

I do think the Cards and the Rangers move on, leaving the Series going to the Texas, but wouldn't be surprised if St. Louis pulled it out.

Well I went 3 for 3 with my AL picks in the playoffs, not so great with my NL picks.

I'm going with Texas in 6 in the WS.

Pretty amazing that the Cards have made it this far after losing Wainwright right off the bat and they are on their 3rd closer. They looked dead in the water 10.5 back of the wildcard by mid August but have a ton of grit and their pen has been outstanding...Motte is just throwing seeds.

After CJ Wilson vs Carp there aint a lot of great starting pitching so I'm guessing it'll be a high scoring series after those 2...Cardinals in 7

I like Texas to take this series. The Cards need to win both of Carpenter's starts if they are going to have a chance to steal it. Good game so far.

Should be a good series. I think my Cards will take it in 6 or 7. I do think they need to win tonight and take the 2-0 lead. I worry a bit if Texas gets the split here before heading back to Texas.

TLR has been great at using his bench and bullpen this postseason. Great stuff. Cards want to show they can win this thing and of course Texas wants to avenge their loss to the Giants last year. Going to be an exciting series.

Reggie Jackson hit 3Hrs in a playoff game before.. and is known as MR October. Will this get the same notoriety ? Probably not, because its not the Yankees.. but

Albert going 5-6 with 3 HRs, 6 RBI's just increased his FA demands to say the least...

Pujols put on a hitting display that may go down as the greatest individual offensive performance by any player in World Series history. Pujols went five-for-six with three home runs; Pujols joined Babe Ruth and Reggie Jackson as the only other players to hit three home runs in a World Series game.

The first Pujols home run went an estimated 431 feet, the second home run went an estimated 424 feet and the third went an estimated 420 feet.

What was most impressive about the performance of Pujols was not the fact that he hit three home runs in one game or that he hit his final home run in the ninth inning. The impressive thing about his feat is that he tied or set seven MLB records in one World Series game! Displayed below are the World Series records Pujols broke or tied.

Most home runs
3: Babe Ruth (10-6-1926)
3: Babe Ruth (10-9-1928)
3: Reggie Jackson (10-18-1977)
3: Albert Pujols (10-22-2011)

Most hits
5: Paul Molitor (10-12-1982) [all singles]
5: Albert Pujols (10-22-2011) [three home runs and two singles]

Runs batted in (RBI)
6: Bobby Richardson (10-8-1960)
6: Hideki Matsui (11-4-2009)
6: Albert Pujols (10-22-2011)

Runs
4: Babe Ruth (10-6-1926)
4: Earle Combs (10-2-1932)
4: Frank Crosetti (10-2-1936)
4: Enos Slaughter (10-10-1946)
4: Reggie Jackson (10-18-1977)
4: Kirby Puckett (10-24-1987)
4: Carney Lansford (10-27-1989)
4: Lenny Dykstra (10-20-1993)
4: Jeff Kent (10-24-2002)
4: Albert Pujols (10-22-2011)

Total bases
14: Albert Pujols (10-22-2011)
12: Babe Ruth (10-6-1926)
12: Babe Ruth (10-9-1928)
12: Reggie Jackson (10-18-1977)

In addition to the five records above, Pujols also set two other records. Pujols became the first player in World Series history to get a hit in four consecutive innings. Pujols also became the first player in World Series history to have four or more hits in a World Series game in which he hit two or more home runs. In all, this amounts to at least seven World Series records set by Pujols in one game.

Reggie, you have company: Pujols hits record books with three-HR game in World Series

Babe Ruth hit 3 HRs in the World Series twice... (no way Ron Washington lets Albert swing the bat to even sniff at that record!)

Because it's the Yankees? LOL. How about because Jackson is known for it? Ruth is known for other things (714, called shot, etc.). If Pujols doesn't get the same recognition, I can think of a few reasons why. Jackson did it first, on 3 consecutive pitches, in a much closer game, and in a clinching game. We don't even know what will come from this game and you're already saying why Pujols will get slighted.

How about we just see what happens?

Im not taking anything away from Ruth or Jackson, the Yankee remark was just a jab, (drunken banter :hic:) at yankee fans and i was unaware that game won them the WS championship. Last nights performance IMO put Pujols in the Legendary status (if he was not already there). Your right, its too early to see what will come of this because the Cards have not won anything yet.... but Pujols achieved 7 World Series records in a single game and obviously it was worth marveling (commenting) about!!

It was a great night. From a historical sense, it really matters what happens from here. If they lose the series or he goes back into a funk, it will lose some luster. I am interested in seeing what happens the rest of the way.

That was a game for the ages. CArds came back from two runs down in the 9th and 10th innings. They then proceed to hit a walk off jack in the 11th. Unreal.

I agree, one of the best games ever. I thought the Cards were gonna lose for sure with all those errors but the Rangers almost made just as many. The Cards were down to their last strike in both the 9th and 10th and to get 2 runs in those situations is crazy. The walk off in the 11th tops the cake. Wow. GAME 7 !!!!

For the alligator arms on the Freese hit? I said when it happened that he could have made more of an attempt. Some guys have a thing with the wall but it really looked like he let up.

Looked to me like he was just fat and slow. Which he is.

He should of just played the ball off the wall and saved the tying run.
