Finally joined a league of mine so I'm going through the players list for low ranked guys. I'm really just browsing for now, so feel free to add!

Malkin (17)
Getzlaf (35)
Kovalchuk(36)
Giroux(54)
Heatley(57)
Gaborik(70)
Hossa(113)
Okposo(216)
Gagne(268)
Hemsky(313)
Mueller(320)

For goalies, I'm doing just goalie # as well because some overall numbers don't justify being "underrated"

Thomas(9)
Quick(13)
Brodeur(16)
Ward (18)
Halak (19)

Here are three more (parenthesis is current pre-draft ranking, whereas rank refers to actual Yahoo! rank for prior seasons):

(183) T. Selanne - 14th overall player last season this late? Worth a dice roll, even with age.
(203) B. Laich - Among players ranked as LW for this season, he ranked 12th last year and 10th in 2009-10.
(248) R. Whitney - ranked 14th last year among players designated as LW for this campaign.

Hemsky @ 313 is unreal. He's actually dropped to 314 somehow lol..

How deep are LW / RW this year. Particularly depth vs. high end.

High-end centres seem to be scarcer than ever. The position is always deep, but there just aren't as many top top C as usual. Datsyuk is a LW for some retarded reason.

RW seems quite deep this year. LW seems very shallow.

LW is not deep at all so try to get a stud LW early and then you can wait till middle of draft for morrow/burrows and the like and wait till late late to get laich/ennis type...elias seems to be pretty low as well...also ray whitney is dropping almost out of the 12 teamers

ya high end c's are becoming scarce.....try to get one of gets/sedin/backstrom/stamkos/malkin etc early and then you can sit on C's till the middle/late rounds

RW depth is really good both high/medium and late depths

Dmen are there but some are going high and some are sinking bigtime...

top 8 goalies seem to be going quick and even 8 - 16 are gone midway through the draft it seems

definatly some gems out there....

I think Berglund could be a big sleeper this year..

LW may be shallow, but its deeper than in past years.

What really changed is C. Its really seeming quite shallow in studs. Losing Datsyuk and Zetterberg plus the question marks around Crosby and Malkin really changed things.

If you're not carefull, you could reach for RW and miss a golden opportunity to have 2 stud C's and end up with Toews/Stastny as your 1-2...which isn't bad, but its not worth reaching for Chris Stewart or something when Doan/Hemsky/etc are sitting there at the end of the draft.

Prospal @ 346 is insane. 82 games nets 60+ points with ease.

Columbus is getting crowded, you think so? Carter, Nash, Brassard are locks, but Prospal, Calvert, Umberger, Vermette, and when he's healthy Huselius will all have to fight for a top 6 spot.

346 is definitely a steal for Prospal, but I don't think he'll get more than 50.

LW C RW

Prospal Carter Nash
Umberger Vermette Brassard

all three on the second line can play C though right? so I'm sure there will be a lot of shuffling of the lines. I don't know if calvert will break the top 6 though.

Prospal is their 3rd best offensive option after Carter and Nash. IMO no chance he's out of the top 6.

Who are some good D to get late in the draft? Are there any hidden gems for that position??

Kaberle should have a good rebound year playing with his brother.
Markov will miss a couple weeks but should play well.
Same with Streit but he's ranked pretty high.

Beyond that you're taking gambles on guys like Ian White.

Grant Clitsome

Ryan Ellis
Stefan Elliott

Simon Despres

D is a pretty deep position, it's easy to grab a 30 point Dman off the FA list - I actually like go snag a goon like Carkner for a D position. I'd rather get 150 PIMs from a #4 D than 30 points.

Damn you're right. Well I guess that's good for the Hurricanes. They don't even have to order extra jersey's. Just dust off Frantisek's for Tomas.

Yahoo never removes eligibility during a season only adds. So Datsyuk could get C at a later point but won't have the LW taken away this year.

Ian White is going to have a great year this year. You can take that to the bank.

brian campbell and jovocop should be the panthers' first defensive pairing, and they sometimes didn't get drafted at all in the mock drafts i did.
alec martinez from LA hardly ever gets picked
minnesota D zidlicky has the ability to put up 50 points, if he stays healthy.
some other sleepers are matt taormina (NJD), who hasn't resigned yet i think, and andrew macdonald (NYI), who's coming off a good first year.

agreed on campbell, he should be a huge steal. pretty sure there's a good reason martinez isn't getting picked though  it'd have to be a pretty deep league I think. taormina did re-sign for one year.

Looks like Yahoo changed all the rankings. The gems you guys pointed out may be no longer and some may be overranked. Haven't had time to check.

In my case, my league is an autodraft (I know, I know) and I had all my prerank changes set up. Don't know if I want to take Crosby at 16, but I surely would have bumping him up from the 70s where he was into the 60s or 50s ;)

heads up for those looking for a Power forward type that has pts and pims......Simmonds took Hartnells spot on the second line tonight and played very well.....I watched the game and was reading some of the thread on the Philly board...just speculation obviously but it seems like Hartnell may be a moveable pieces as the flyers brass really like what they see from Simmonds...

keep him on your watch list.....

With Erhoff gone in Van I think Bieksa qualifies as a sleeper. Especially if your league counts PIMS and Hits. Should be on the top pp unit as well.

Edler is the PP QB - Bieksa is competing with Salo for that second spot, isn't he?

drop Greiss for somebody.

Because of my league's crazy scoring system (SV worth 1 pt each) I was planning on going with four goalies all year. I was going to drop Griess for another goalie like Garon or Hedberg.

A guy to watch in deeper leagues is Carcillo. At least for now. He is playing with Kane and Hossa, did well the other night and from all the stuff I have read he plans to be smarter with his fights. He was last night he got challenged by Stuart and declined because it wasn't the smart thing to do at the time. You know and I know he will get his fair share of PIMs, but if he can stay on that line and smarten up he could make for a sneaky pickup in deeper leagues.
