I heard the Raiders are 15 million over

After they get rid of Aso, Gallery, and some other players they won't be. There are quite a few teams over the limit and a couple under since now there is a minimum cap.

They are also one of a few teams who signed a lot of there players to deals before the lockout started. We only have Zachar Miller and Michael Bush to resign.

Some real interesting days coming up, especially for the Jets.

Holmes will be our #1 priority after Harris is signed.

We could use Sanchez restructure to help bring back possibly Edwards or Cro.

I keep reading that Holmes may not be resigned and that other teams (I think the Redskins) are interested. I would think that they would want to keep him.

He's definitely the Jets #1 priority but he's going to go to the highest bidder. It'll be between the Jets/Skins. I never have any doubts when it comes to contracts and Mike T, he's the best numbers GM around.

You act as though this is new! He's been asking for this kind of money since he knew he wasn't coming back to OAK. He's the #1 shutdown CB in the league and has been for many years now. Only Revis is on his level. I'm not saying he's going to get the $20 mil, but he's going to want more than $12 mil a year thats for sure or he would have signed already.

Revis' contract won't allow for that - he's the comparable as the best corner in the league as you say. I'd be surprised if he gets more than $15mm and likely closer to $12mm. $20mm would be ridiculous. How he thinks he's worth that is also ridiculous.

I think it's a crazy price too and I think he was saying that to the Raiders so that they wouldn't resign him. I think he will get $15 mil and it looks like right now the Texans are in the lead with that offer.

We could discuss how adding him doesn't make them exponentially better (related to cost, etc. because they already have Revis) but how would getting him make their defense worse?

How? It's him, or Carr or Cro. That's the only other addition we're making to our D, so if we have our choice, how does it make us worse?

We might lose Edwards, I'm not a massive fan anyways of him, so that's the only downside and obviously not to our D...

This team should be targeting guys like Cullen Jenkins, Steven Bowen and Manny Lawson. Losing Brad Smith sends your avg. starting field position way back as well. Its just not a good overall game plan IMO.

The Jets are counting on K. Ellis and Wilkerson to come in and add good depth and youth to the defensive line. Combine that with what we have, the coming out of DeVito, I think the team is fine with our DL. The rushing the passer problem is going to continue because we can't get our hands on a Rush-Backer. There's nothing turning that around this offseason.

We've moved money around already, and still could do more with Sanchez and if we land get Aso, it'll end up working out money wise for the team because many of them are willing to move money around + Mike T is a whiz with the cap.

Losing Brad Smith hurts but you have to remember, we've had how many pro-bowl return-men lately? We have the best ST Coordinator in the business and I think McKnight or Kirley will be able to step in and do a comparable job to Brad Smith.

I don't think I can comment on the money/cap space until after (if) Aso signs. Because from the outside looking in, the Holmes deal looked a bit high but when you see the cap hit for this season, it's a different story (for this year).

There is no way that they were signing Smith back at that number no matter what else they did. I agree that their pass rush needs help but I don't see any of those guys being serious difference makers in that regard. Having the 2 best cover corners in the league will allow them to do many different things. Their rush D should be better if for no other reason than because they can load up more.

I can agree that it depends on the deal. If its 4 or 5 years then you're screwed because he will never live up to that contract. You would want the ability to bail after two years.

I live in Central Jersey (Jets/Giants town) and it's all I here up here. I've never been a Jets fan and living in this area has made me hate them even more. I like Rex as a coach and obviously Revis is a stud, but other than that, nothing about them appeals to me.

I have no real thoughts on the matter. Braylon said something really stupid on twitter and I hope we don't resign him now. Plax is pretty much the make of WR we need, a big body. Not sure how good of shape, etc, he's in but if the money's right, I say why not?
