View Full Version : Theriot vs Aviles

Hey guys,

I'm in a deep (20 team) league that counts Runs, Hits, RBI, Stolen Bases and Average. Somebody dropped Aviles and he's cleared waivers. I am using Theriot in the 2B slot, but I'm wondering if Aviles will turn it around.

The pre-season projections I was looking at have Aviles projected to hit .295, 21 SB, 61 RBI, 150 Hits, 73 Runs, and Theriot was projected to hit .273, have 17 SB, 43 RBI, 157 Hits, and 68 Runs. It sorta looks like it's going the opposite way and that they're sitting Aviles against RHP.

Through just a couple of weeks,

Theriot: 14 hits, 7 runs, 4 RBI, 2 SB and Average is .304 (14/46)
Aviles: 5 hits, 3 runs, 6 RBI 2 SB and Average is .156 (5/32)

So obviously it's early in the season, but do you think Theriot will keep going like he's going? Or Do you think Aviles will get it together and have a better year?

I'd stick with Theriot. KC has other options than Aviles, and he's a steaky hitter. STL doesn't have much depth at middle infield so he's a pretty sure bet to stay in the lineup and produce at the level he's projected to

Thanks eff1ngham,

Yeah, it's tempting because the league is so deep -- if I had a bench spot I could stash Aviles in, I'd probably do it -- but we've only got 1 bench spot, and the weekly innings pitched requirements are ridiculous.

I guess basically Aviles had a good year last year and Theriot had a bad one.

I prefer Aviles but Ned Yost jerks his guys around, so I dunno. Aviles had a good night on Wed too.
