Disclaimer: All of the following are based on my (hopefully) unbiased opinion and are in no way statistical fact. Factors going into my decisions include goalie skill, match up, career stats vs, and recent trends. How many goalies start reflects how much I write about them, usually. If you disagree about anything feel free to voice your opinion!

C = CONFIRMATION: All confirmations are listed below or click here (http://goaliestatus.com/)

Must Start
C Thomas @OTT: I saw the matchup and was curious as to why Thomas didn't start last night and Rask didn't start here, but the Islanders aren't much harder. Talk about a difficult B2B!

Good Start
C Hedberg vs NYR: Brodeur is still out, and Hedberg has caused any problems, winning 4 straight allowing just 6 goals.
C Backstrom vs ANA: Ridiculous how Vancouver of all teams was held to just 13 shots, and still scored 3 goals. Could have been a case of Backstrom not finding a groove because he wasn't facing enough, but that still should have been an easy game. Otherwise he's been great in 2011.
C Bobrovsky @CAR: Are they doing a win and you're in rotation, or strictly rotating? it switches so much and I don't own either, so it's hard to follow. Both have been playing rather well regardless.
C Crawford vs CLB: 6 goals allowed in his last 4, but just 2 wins? Chicago's offense needs to step it up.

Toss Up
C Conklin @BUF: I have Halak and Hiller in one of my leagues, and already picked up Hedberg when Hiller hit IR. This time I had the excellent choice of Conklin or McElhinney. I took McElhinney.
Miller vs STL: 2, 7, 2, 4, 2, 3, 2, 3 are Miller's last 8 games' goals against. Consistency is not his strong suit this season, but at least 5 of those were wins.
C Vokoun vs DET: Another loss, another .912sv%. Vokoun is 9-19-1 against Detroit.
C McElhinney @MIN: In his last 2 starts he's allowed 11 goals, but he's won 3 of his last 4 and that's what matters to the Ducks right now. His 4 games before those were solid, including a shutout.
C Ward vs PHI: OOPS. His last game was meh but he's been consistenly letting in 3 goals with a decent sv%.
C Lundqvist @NJD: He played alright in his loss last night but has let in 3 or more in 6 straight. He's got excellent stats against the Devils.

Weak Start
C Macdonald @FLA: Florida isn't much of a threat, but Macdonald isn't much of an NHL goalie. The only win he has in a Detroit uniform was a 6-5 game against Columbus.

Don't Start
C Lehner vs BOS: Herp, derp. Anderson's value plummets, Elliott's rises a little. Lehner isn't ready.
Garon @CHI: It's unfortunate right as Mason started doing better he got sick. He shouldn't miss too many games though but he sucked after getting mono so this probably won't be much better.

Elliot will not be starting for Ottawa as he was traded.

Just read that, Anderson can't be there already can he? LEclaire is off of the IR on yahoo so he might finally be ready.

Doubt it. He'd need to get his VISA and everything else sorted.

Ward not even worth a ranking?

02-18-2011, 05:35 PM
I wouldn't be surprised to see Rask play tonight. Thomas has lost 3 of 4 and, in his only win in that span, he gave up 6 goals to the Habs in an 8-6 victory. Rask won last night and hasn't played much so going back-to-back ain't no thang. Thomas may be starting to come down to earth though his .938 compared to his .948 ain't too shabby.

2 nights in a row I have Rask on my bench and will probably cost me my matchup this weeks. Sucks!
