Disclaimer: All of the following are based on my (hopefully) unbiased opinion and are in no way statistical fact. Factors going into my decisions include goalie skill, match up, career stats vs, and recent trends. How many goalies start reflects how much I write about them, usually. If you disagree about anything feel free to voice your opinion!

C = CONFIRMATION: All confirmations are listed below or click here (http://goaliestatus.com/)

Must Start
Thomas vs TOR: 2 poor starts in a row isn't like Thomas, so we'll consider it an exception. He's 15-4-4 against the Leafs.
Niemi @NSH: Niemi didn't do well against Florida, but like I said it's probably because of an early east coast game. He's got poor stats against Nashville in 3 starts, but it'll take another game or two to bump him down.
Rinne vs SJS: Also on the verge of moving down, Rinne hasn't been as consistent as earlier in the season. He's got good numbers against the Sharks, but he's allowed 3 or more in 3 of his last 7.

Good Start
Reimer @BOS: He's slipped up a few times, but keep in mind he's 22 years old. Boston is one of the few teams he's already played, and he lost 1-2 in a 31 save effort.
Miller @MTL: Miller could get a shutout and still have a 3.50gaa for the week. UGH
Price vs BUF: After letting in 8 goals, Price bounced back with a shutout. He had a shutout 3 games ago, but the 2 in between sucked.
*Boucher @TBL: Boucher has been great this season, winning his last 2 with only 1 goal allowed in each. In 40 minutes against Tampa he let in 1 goal on 16 shots.
C Backstrom vs VAN: Backstrom continues his dominance, winning 3 of his last 4 allowing 1 or less goal in each win. He's great against Vancouver.

Toss Up
Roloson vs PHI: Last time he shut them out, but he's been terribly inconsistent recently.
C Schneider @MIN: It's good to see a team notice their starting goalie struggle against a certain team, and then bench him. Luongo sucks against the Wild, and Schneider has done very well in 3 appearances vs them.
Lehtonen @EDM: Lehtonen finally had a good game but Mason had a better one. Columbus was the first team to beat him in regulation since Detroit on December 29th.

Weak Start
Lawson @OTT: Lawson is off the IR and Koskinen back to the AHL, it only makes sense that he'd start here. He's 0-3-1 on the season with poor numbers.

Don't Start
Elliott vs NYI: Elliott finally got a win, but allowed 3 goals on 18 shots. The Isles have been on fire, scoring 28 goals in their last 5.
Khabibulin vs DAL: Both Edmonton goalies have allowed 4 goals in their last start. Dubnyk however, has won in the last 2 months. Khabi seriously hasn't.

price vs buff
rinne vs sj
backstrom vs van

tough one.

backstrom has been hot lately and van. just played last night. I would probably go with backstrom and rinne only because buffalo has been scoring a lot lately and I can see price having a stinker. Really any 2 or those 3 would be great to roll with.

Finally. Miller desperately needed a break after starting every game since mid-November.

yo, Raja & rocklobster and anyone else....do the following stats coupled with Prices SO in the last game sway your decision on whom I should start tonight?

Price looked especially sharp over his four starts against the Sabres this year with a 3-0-1 record, 1.49 GAA and .953 SV%.

price v buff
rinne v sj
backstrom v van...

tough choice...

It makes it closer I guess, but not really. Buffalo has scored 22 goals in their last 4 games. If you have a gut feeling go with it though.

not really a gut feeling...just looking at hisnumbers...but when you look at buff's goals lately maybe I should go with Backstrom/rinne......really tough decision though all 3 sabres/canucks/sharks can score big....

Out of those 3 matchups I'd easily have the most confidence in Price especially with Miller on the pine...on top of a bunch of those goals scored by Buffalo coming against the Leafs and Isles.

The toughest decision is between Rinne and Backstrom for #2

...good point, I think I am going to start Price and Rinne, Backstrom has been hot but I see Vancouver bouncing back tonight vs the wild....afterall st louis to minny is not far...and schnieder seems better than Luongo anyhow..
