Disclaimer: All of the following are based on my (hopefully) unbiased opinion and are in no way statistical fact. Factors going into my decisions include goalie skill, match up, career stats vs, and recent trends. How many goalies start reflects how much I write about them, usually. If you disagree about anything feel free to voice your opinion!

Welcome back! Because of the long break everybody gets a pretty great rest. I don't have much time to do them since 26 teams are playing tonight, so maybe (but unlikely) notes after class.

Okay, now that I have more than 30 minutes to do 26 goalies we can get back to notes!

Must Start
C Luongo @PHX: Because of the lighter workload, Luongo is playing some of the best hockey of his career (but being on that Vancouver team helps). He hasn't lost in regulation since December 5th, going 12-0-5 with elite numbers.

Good Start
Fleury vs NYI: Fleury and the Pens are 6-2 without Crosby. No big deal.
Hiller vs SJS: Hiller hopes to continue his strong play after having an incredible December and January. Just 4-8-1 against the Sharks, his 2.18gaa and .934sv% make up for lack of wins.

Toss Up
C Dipietro @PIT: After posting 5 great games in a row Dipietro has allowed 4 goals in each of his last 2. Poulin continues to impress, so he'll still probably see a good deal of time.
Vokoun @MTL: Clemmensen went last night, so Vokoun is expected to go here. Both teams played last night and went to shootouts.
Price vs FLA: 3 of Price's last 5 starts have been great, but he needs to find the consistency he had at the beginning of the year to have a successful playoff run. The other 2 were terrible.
Bryzgalov vs VAN: Who would have thought Phoenix would blow a 3 goal lead? Despite Vancouver's high powered offense, Bryzgalov has some pretty great numbers against them.
Quick @EDM: 4-0-2 against the Oilers, and on a 3 game win streak.
Niemi @ANA: Niemi has slipped a bit his last 3 starts, but before that he was playing great. He got pulled before the SJ comeback last night, but that's probably a sign he's starting again. Stalock stopped all 9 shots he faced in relief though.

Weak Start
C Howard @OTT: Howard was pretty bad before the break, but he's coming back with Datsyuk, a lot of rest, and playing one of the worst teams in the league.

Don't Start
Elliott vs DET: For the same reasons listed for Howard, and they also played last night. Lehner was fantastic.
Khabibulin vs LAK: Why Khabbi starts more games than Dubnyk, I don't know. He's lost 11 in a row, dating back to mid December.

I haven't looked up confirmations, but I have a feeling Brent Johnson will get the nod for the Penguins tonight. Fleury played last night as well as in the All-Star Game and the Islanders often draw opposing teams' backup goalies.
