THN Ultimate Guide 2010-11

As June is quickly coming to an end I've been scanning the magazine racks for the THN 2010-11 Ultimate Guide. Anyone remember off hand when it comes out or am I just jumping the gun? Thanks in advance.

You're jumping the gun.
I usually pick mine up before my camping trip in mid-August.

Think about it. If you got one is would be seriously outdated by the time the season started. There's still so many unsigned players and trades that have yet to happen.

Is the app any good? I have the TSN app and RotoWire one already. I don't have the Sportsnet one because I don't want too many apps junking up my phone. It would seem to me the the Sportsnet and TSN ones are redundant. Is there anything in the THN that makes it worth having AS WELL?

Its not bad. I am at a three week training event and the dorms don't have internet, so its more or less judt to kill time. There isn't any breaking news on it, in fact its almost like reading yesterdays. Newspaper when it comes to recent stuff.

Does anyone know if the fantasy mag is included in a subscription to THN? The wife's parents got me a 2 yr subscription to THN back in Feb and I don't want to go out and buy the fantasy mag only to find it sitting in my mailbox at home if I can get it for free with my subscription.

If by «fantasy mag» you mean the Year book with all the predictions, then yes it is included.

Yeah I figured I was overeager. Whenever I see the NFL ones making the rounds a couple weeks later I started getting antsy.

Aug 7th, can't wait.

I'm not sure that the Yearbook and the Ultimate Fantasy Guide are the same thing... I think they're different. I'm asking about the Ultimate Fantasy Guide (had Malkin on the cover last year).

Thinking of picking up a magazine this year... i heard the online one (Dobber?) is pretty good since you can access their exclusive info online throughout the season... anyone used that before?

i like it, especially since it's the only place online that I can get these kind of info for free.

It's a good starting point, but sometime I think he is off the track .. so dont base your decisions only base on this.

Yeah, Dobber's product is far superior to the THN guide. Good insight on sleepers, rookies and team analysis. Plus it gets updated. The THN guide has some interesting stats, but most of those can be found gratis on-line.

Anyone use McKeens or Forecaster?

Is Dobber's worth the money though?

dobbers is worth it. it covers entire teams and gets updated and really has a lot of good info. i'm not sure if you still can but you can get a package with the prospects report for like 5 bucks more and thats another 70 ish pages of solid info if you're in deep leagues or leagues with farm teams.

$9.99 for draft info
$13.99 for draft info plus rookies info
$21.99 for all that plus more

If it helps... it'll be available for download on August 1st!

^ Agreed. Solid stuff.

To answer Szuturon, yes, I think it's worth it. I find the draft list (which I modify) very helpful, the sleeper info and the team break downs are all I need walking into any of my drafts. Of course, all the nuggets of wisdom I pick up here are also part of the draft package.

I only buy Dobber and the Yearbook, though the Yearbook isn't really for fantasy drafting it's just something I've purchased every season since I was a kid.... Dobber's guide is definitely worth the $10.
