This forum always looks pretty horrible in Firefox on Linux. I'm fairly sure it's just an issue with Firefox falling back on an ugly font when it can't find the ones the forum identifies that it wants to use. Setting the default font in preferences doesn't change anything -- probably because the site specifies the font it wants to use.

Does anyone know how to change the fallback fonts in Firefox? Other browsers I've tried in Linux (Chromium, Midori) look much better on this forum and other pages that have the same problem.

for the "metallic" theme, it looks like the css is pointing to "verdana, geneva, lucida,'lucida grande',arial,helvetica,sans-serif" for font. It should try those fonts in order and only use the browser default if none of them are found. maybe you have one of those installed and there's a problem with it? Have you tried a clean install of FF?

It's a persistent problem on Linux for me across different distros, even, so it's not a matter of clean install. I'll post a screenshot next time I'm booted in Linux -- maybe someone will recognize the ugly font I get.

In a sharepoint meeting right now so Windows is kind of a necessity.

Ew. Just out of curiosity, do you have the Windows core fonts installed in Linux?

No, though that's not stopping Chromium and Midori from looking perfectly fine.

I have tried that solution before, and it did improve the font a bit, but it still looked uglier than the other browsers.

Not sure if this will help at all, but go to Help->Check for Updates

Version 3.6.4 is out...

FYI, installing M$'s core fonts makes for nicer browsing in general.
