View Full Version : An Idea

I know a lot of forums use "props" or "respect" or a thumbs up button to give credit to members that helped other members by giving advice, updating information, etc. Might be a worthwhile idea in the fantasy section where some members deserve a lot of recognition, but don't have a way of showing it off (thinking mostly of the guys that maintain the stickied threads). You could max it out at 1 per day or something.

Anyway, not sure if it's feasible, but just thought it was an idea worth writing down.

Really if someone deserves props, start a thread and give them thanks. Or drop them a PM. We have tossed around the idea of rep points before but always came out against the idea. Basically when its used people bump their friends and it promotes cliques. Besides one of the unique aspects of this fantasy forum is that its not expert or personality driven. You get answers from a broad base of people. After a while you learn whose opinions you value more than others.

Something like this was discussed awhile back and it basically was decided against for several reasons.

Yeah, its not that hard. You see a guy recommending trading Iginla for Osgood -- you don't listen to him much anymore.

I don't see how any ranking system is worth shit. I have already commented on the popularity contest aspect previously. As for a system to rate whether it was good advice?? This isn't EBAY. You get what you paid for and you give positive feedback. End of story. Rating whether you got good advice is subjective and you really don't know until much later. Stocking draft picks in a keeper might sound good now to a cellar dweller but, if you don't know how to draft, that means shit. Making a decent trade for your team only to have that player go down might knock that advice down a notch (unfairly). Personally, I like advice from as many people as possible. I don't give a shit who. Then, it's up to me to make a decision.

Anyone know who actually runs the site? Like is he or she a poster? This is just out of curiosity.
