And don't abuse the tags or I'll take them away. :p

I was just about to ask if something had changed. It looked different, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Is there something "missing" from the top area of the page? Everything seems like it's further up, but I can't tell what's wrong, lol.

Also, as I'm typing this in the reply box, there's a "box" around the area I'm actually typing in. It's not a real box, just an area to the left, right and top of the text that isn't being typed in. It's like an empty frame (black like my background), around the tex, but inside the relply box...

Is the default text when typing user-settable? It had always been Verdana for me, but now it's Tahoma...

And the ads are missing, that's probably why things are moved up.

Metallic (which is the default, I think).

Everything looks normal when I submit it, though. Here's a screenshot of what I'm talking about when I'm typing though (the "box" around the text):

Look just below my post (or the last post in each thread) and you'll see a tags section. It's meant to be able to give a one/two word description of a thread and then you can search by tag to find all threads related to "NHL", "Red Wings", "music", "porn", etc. It's just an alternate way, in case the thread title isn't exactly what the thread is about...

The screenshot looks normal? Up until now, any text I wrote was all the way to the left and top of the reply box. Now there's a "gap" in both spots.

Any idea on the defualt font style?

So, pretty pissed right now...

Just spent a half hour typing out a post for the future goalie starts/schedule thread, as I do every day during the week. Went to post it, and got a msg saying something to the effect of 'this action cannot be completed blah blah blah', which normally means I've been logged out automatically, and when this has happened in the past, I simply click 'go advanced', which takes me to the login page, where I type in my info, log in, and my msg gets posted.

Well, I went through the same process today - logged in, typed out my post, went to post it, got the 'this action cannot be completed' msg, indicating I was timed out/logged out, so clicked on 'go advanced', logged in on the following screen - but then got this....
"Your submission could not be processed because you have logged in since the previous page was loaded.

Please push the back button and reload the previous window."

... which is all well and good, but as soon as I click the back button, I lose all the text I just spent a half hour typing out! Is there any way around this, aside from changing my settings to have me never logged out? It's super frustrating to have this happen after typing out a long post, and it's now the 2nd time it's happened to me today alone. I'm not sure why it's a crime to log back in and post your msg after you started it while logged in and have since been logged out automatically, but that doesn't seem to be allowed. So, aside from changing my settings to have me logged in at all times (which I don't want to do), is there any way around this? It's super frustrating.

Type long posts in Word and copy and paste.

Good point, and normally I would, but for some reason my formatting gets all effed up when I go from WORD to here, which just ends up taking a bunch longer to re format and whatnot.

I never had a problem up until now, as I could always just re-log in if I got automatically logged out before finishing my post, but there must be some new security features in the new vbulletin that aren't allowing this to happen anymore for whatever reason.

PS - The ads are coming back. I just had to revert the templates for a little while.

Also I know there are a lot of broken images. Katie will be around later tonight to fix that, I hope. I could do it, but she'll make it look purty and slick.

When I just did my new line combo thread, it didn't maintain formatting when I copy/paste. It's good for being able to recover the actual text if you lose it, but it used to copy all the formatting.

Lol, was just gonna mention that. Too bad the function got abused, cause it was actually a decent feature for those of us doing threads that are updated regularily and using it for it's intended purpose (Zang's starting goalies ranking thread, my future goalie starts, nyrblue's line combos, etc), to notify others that info has been updated within the thread.

On another topic, where do I go to change my settings so that I don't automatically get logged out (as happened twice yesterday, causing me to lose a couple long posts I spent a while typing out)? I checked under 'User CP', 'Edit options', but couldn't find anything relating to disabling auto-logout and staying logged in, or at least extending the amt of time it takes for auto-logout to take effect. Anybody know if I can even change that sort of thing, and if so, how do I do it/where do I look? TIA

I believe there is a box to click when you log in. That's it. I don't think there is a setting in the options for that.

Don't you use Firefox? I'm pretty sure if you hit back you can find most of what you posted if it wasn't successful.

Edit: Yup, when you log in there is a box that says 'Remember Me'. Check it off and you should be good.

Just a bit more info on what has been problematic for me (posted above):

I found a section called Edit Option ---> Misc. Options in my user control panel. The messade editor interface was set to "Enhanced Interface - WYSIWYG". I changed this to "Standard Editor" and my regular typing was back to normal (i.e. the text starts all the way at the top and left of the message box and defualts to Verdana font). Obviously, this also disabled the real-time viewing of message formatting and simply showed the BBcode. Understandable.

When I switched back to "Enhanced Interface", it went back to the same problem as the screenshot I posted above. Also, what I see isn't really what I get (ironic, huh?) for a few reasons:

1) When I edit a post of mine that has some crazy formatting (line combo thread), the edit window looks nothing like what actually appears when it is submitted. The formatting does show in real time when I make a new thread with new formatting, though. It's only when I edit a previously formatted (bold, italic, hyperlink, etc.) thread that it looks screwy. Here's what I mean (submitted post on top; edit window on bottom - notice the different colors, underlines, different font, etc.):

================================================== ====
http://img166.imageshack.us/img166/3251/editmodefz1.png (http://imageshack.us)

2) Any new text I type defaults to Tahoma text as I type, but appears as Verdana when I submit it.

3) When I do a copy+paste on any text bigger than size 2 font, it appears as size 2 when I paste it.

"What could be the harm?" is the single worst thing a computer user can ask. If you don't know, there's probably a reason you're not in charge making such decisions.

There could be dozens of reasons why they don't want their employees installing unmanaged/unapproved software on their machines.

I installed Firefox because I wanted to. IT policy be damned (and for the record, nobody cares, lots of people in the office have FF).

I know better than to shit where I eat. Firefox was the only program I've installed on my own since February when I got the job. I don't know why you would want to do anything really bad on a work computer, though I've heard stories from friends in the field.

Besides, when you start to work at a place long enough you start to learn about what you can get away with. For instance, going onto internet forums is banned in the company policy. As well as listening to headphones. And I do both, because I know I can. :p
