View Full Version : Support a new BBCode tag?

Can we have support for the [ expand ] bbcode tag?
If for nothing else I think this would help for signatures. Particularly for those that have a number of teams. This would allow the signature to be kept relatively smaller and people could just expand the team a poster references.
Here's an example: http://forums.devshed.com/forum-announcements-120/new-expand-bbcode-in-our-forums-419236.html

Looks very nice. Definitely helpful for people with big sigs, as Hamster already suggested.

Yeah, yeah... I got a list.
I'm gonna be around a month or two longer than I expected, so I'll get to some of this stuff when my level of boredom gets too high.

Jeff that is a neat idea Hamsterkill has got there. I used to have one team in my sig, now I put all four so that would be very helpful. I'm curious to see the other goodies you got holding out for us until the end! Wanna leave a legacy, eh.

Possible sig application?
It works.
It works.
I noticed you had it going when you replied in my thread in the fantasy hockey section. So what's the coding for this?
EDIT: I did a little digging and I think I may have figured it out. Let's try it out.

I'm having some troubles with this function for some reason. I've done exactly as nyrblue2 suggested, but when I go to preview my sig before saving, the system randomly inserts extra {spoiler}'s and {/spoiler}'s so that I end up having two buttons per team instead of just one per team. See my sig below.
Anybody has any idea why this is happening? Is there a limit to how many characters I can have per line or something? It's not a big deal, just kinda weird that it's randomly adding in extra 'show spoiler' buttons that aren't really necessary.
Edit: Okay, I tried putting the whole sig on one button instead of dividing it up into three seperate buttons, and now I'm getting this (see sig), lol. For some reason, the system INSISTS on inserting an extra button where it's not necessary. Do I need to change some of my settings/options or something?

I was noticing this as well. It seems to do this when the formatting of the text changes (font color or size). I had to play around a bit to get my sig to work.

No, the expand tag that I found can do that, but not the spoiler tag.

Maybe, but everything in my sig is uniform... same font size, same colour, etc. I don't get it...
Thx for posting though, good to know I'm not the only one having these issues.

No prob. I'm thinking the tag may need to be on its own line when trying to include multiple lines within the tag... Not sure though.

Not sure if there's a vBulletin extension that can do that...
Question: How do you do the "SPOILER" thing in sigs?
Glad you asked since most of these sigs around here are out of control. Here's the link for the details:

Basically it's the <spoiler>Sig in here</spoiler> tags.

For some reason the spoiler tag is adding itself in the middle of my signature at the SS S. Drew. No matter how many times I redo it or even delete and do it, it adds itself back in there. Any ideas?

Good for editing posts.

I could cut it, but the spoiler button is almost as big as the 3 lines, I wouldn't really be saving all that much space.
And yes, I meant strike-through. I prefer if I think of something new to add to a post, or want to change something i typed to use strike through than to create another post.
Also, it can sometimes be annoying useful humorous.
