View Full Version : Where's the cursor/mouse indicator thingie when I post?

I think this only happens when I quote someone or possibly it only happens here and there, but sometimes when I am about to post and I click the mouse indicator/cursor so I can start from the top left...but the little flashing line is not there so I have no idea where I will start writing when I type letters. Does that make sense? I have no idea where I am on the page....if I try to go back by hitting the (Left arrow) key, I can't see where I am in the text I wrote. It's weird
Hopefully someone else has had this problem and can describe it better than I!

Happens to me too lately... usually when I quote and sometimes when I just reply.
Try refreshing the page a few times, that usually does it for me... Its a drag, but it works

I get it too. I think it has to do with FF3 as well.

Yeah, I've had this issue. A quick way around it is hitting the A/A icon (formatting) on the far right and switching to HTML mode.

Refreshing or hitting that AA button doesn't seem to help - this is becoming really fucking annoying!

I'm still not sure if its FF3. I post on a numerous boards and this is the only one where I encounter this. Odd.

We're a little behind on our vBulletin updates. I'm trying to get it done in the next few weeks.. in the mean time, if the upgrade will solve it, hang in there, we'll get it fixed.
Otherwise, I have no friggin idea what it could be- - it's not happening to me in Firefox 3.

Which theme are you guys using? (Check the lower left hand corner of the page)...
And if you're not using Metallic, try that and see if the problem remains.

Well, in your case, it must be operator error.

I switched to standard and that solved it. I know HTML so this isn't an issue, but I could see it being one for those who don't.

I went to the Standard one, so everything is in HTML. It fixes the issue.

Not sure if this applies here, but I got bored so I decided to look around and see if it was just us with the problem (turns out, it's not just us). Solutions are few though, apart from kam's workaround or maybe a vBulletin upgrade.
But I did find this. Not sure if this helps, Jeff, but I thought I'd post it in case.

Also not sure if this helps or even if it's a reliable reproduction. But Phillyjammer's post here is one that I cannot quote without this problem.

I hate kam's solution but its the easiest way. I don't like not seeing the bolded words in bold etc

Well, not the posts where the problem happens. I just do the reverse. I keep it in WYSIWYG mode and switch if I come across a problem post.
