For the last few days when I have been quoting people I haven't been able to write bellow the quote. Basically I can't move the cursor around.
I haven't seen anyone else having the same problem so maybe it has something to do with my comp? I dunno...

Actually I've had this happen to me in the last couple weeks. It was only with certain threads though, and I was able to work around it (right-click set cursor below the quote).

Yeah it's only on certain threads for me too, I'll give your trick a shot if it happens again. Thx!

I suspect it's happening when other people have already misquoted... so you quote a fucked up format and the cycle continues...

I'm very rarely wrong.
It is always user error. Don't you folks know that. ;)

So how can one "misquote"?
Also, if you're right, that's not user error, that's a rather serious security flaw in vBulletin or something. If a user can type something into a post that makes a text box not function properly, that's pretty bad.
EDIT: Habs_Freak, did this happen to you while quoting my post in the Power Rankings thread? I noticed you replied above the quote rather than below it.

Is this site Vbulletin 3.6.8 PL2? I've noticed the same problem that others are talking about when I use Firefox 3.0.1 on Windows XP. The cursor does not show up, and the cursor functionality doesn't work (can't highlight text and delete it, for example). I think it's a compatability issue with vbulletin and firefox. If I go and use IE I don't run into any problems

I think I recall having the problem in IE7 when I tested a problem thread once. I've not noticed the issue since this thread was started though.

DAmn. I got an update asking me if I'd like to update to FF3, I chose Later. I'd really like to do it, but I've heard about too many bugs to go through with it just yet.I started getting this problem today after upgrading to FF3 last night.

Do any of you who get this issue use Skype?

With FF3 I have also noticed that sporadically I will click on a thread title and a box forms around the title but does not redirect to the thread. I have to F5 and try again.

I just had the message pop up again to update :p
Is there anyway that the forum gets an update?

That would be Jeff and MTR's territory... not sure FF3 would be responsible for making that change.

Just testing something ...... it appears I am back to normal after switching back to Firefox 2 version.
Able to do the functions with version 2 that 3 was struggling with.

It'd be strange that the problem would be an incompatibility that randomly asserts itself in FF3. I haven't seen the problem in over a month now and been using FF3 the whole time.

That's interesting that it's not every FF3 user then....hmmm

That's why I asked about Skype. I remember the Skype Firefox extension broke Google Maps for me... thought maybe it had other issues too.

I'm having this cursor problem as well, but not just when I quote. It's also when I create a new thread or just use the "Post Reply" option. So basically, when I use the separate page for writing replies/creating threads. It works fine in the quick reply though.
There is no cursor. Once I start typing, if I were to find an typo earlier in the reply I'd actually have to delete everything back to the typo. I can't just click there and hit backspace. It only lets me keep typing at the end of the post.
Similar for quoting. I can only start typing at the start of the text field (before the quote).
Weird. Stupid FF3.
Maybe the new Google Chrome browser might not have this problem?

Theoretically speaking, if the problem does not exist in Safari (Mac and Windows) or Konqueror (Unix), then it shouldn't exist in Chrome as all use the same rendering engine.

Actually when it happens now all I have to do is refresh the page and its fine.
