I was just kinda poking around in the random areas on this site and noticed this statement in the "Edit profile" part of my User CP:
"Please contact the Administrator if your date of birth has changed."
:wtf:
I feel like you're kinda stuck with the one you started with, unless I'm mistaken, lol. Just a random thing I saw, no biggie.

Some people have put in the wrong birth date either by mistake or stupidity... I'll let you be the judge

or intentional... why does an internet message board need my exact birthdate?

I'm with you, mine's a fake as well. In a message board where I often give my opinion, etc., I prefer the mkting companies, scammers, etc. that scour the internet, don't know exactly who b_illin is....or if they do, they had to work for it!

That's great, but you did it on purpose and don't want to change it correct?
Look at the OP:
"Please contact the Administrator if your date of birth has changed."
We're not saying you need to put in your real birth date, but who really needs to change it? Unless of course there was a slip of the key.

Yea, I think the accidental mistake was the reasoning. But in and of itself, the wording of the statement is just funny, lol.

Why? Because it's the law (at times). And admitting you lied about it could result in a ban. And if you do do lie, you sure as fuck better remember which date you used if/when you forget your password, because I'm not resetting it without having the correct information. :p

Is it because you like to send birthday cards to the members??? :p

completely unenforceable, misguided legislation that will continue to be shot down by the courts.

I completely agree, but that's why we ask. And frankly, answering the question in a deceptive way just pisses me off. It's just an irrational pet peeve.

Is it because you like to send birthday cards to the members??? :p:lol: On my birthday, I get like 50 fucking "happy birthday" messages --- so cold and impersonal. I really should turn that thing off. :)
But we do have a community here, many of us consider each other to be friends, why is it so awful that we'd know when your birthday is so we can offer a  and well wishes?

Oh I agree 100%.... don't see the big deal in putting your real birthday down. :dunno:

It's one of the key pieces of info used for identity theft. As much as I love y'all, it's not worth the risk (as small as it may be) just so I can get an eBeer or two from you guys on my b-day. :p
Now, if someone wants to give me an actual gift, I might reconsider my position. :)

it's just a risk/reward thing... what's the benefit of giving it out and making it trivially simple for someone up to no good to get that info about me? none, aside from the aforementioned eBeers. ;)

yeah looking back I realize I give up a lot of info here that people could actually use to track me down or steal my identity. Birthdate gives em another barrier to past :P

Yeah, in hindsight I may have put my actual bday, but when I signed up, I had no idea I;d be on this site as much as I am. Besides, I am less than a month from my real bday which I have as Jan. 1, 1977 (which is the correct birth year...or am I really a 63 born in 1945?!?)
