Do you use anything like confidence points, or is it just a normal pick em league?

9 out of 10 times, but often the spread is so ridiculous they don't cover! :D

King, I love how guys think they know College Football. Eff, the top ranked team usually, USUALLY does win, but that by no means says that they cover which is what you have to do in this challenge. Hell, if it were that easy, King, myself, and our friend DB would have careers in gambling, but trust us, it's no always or EVER that easy.

That's why I added the  smiley ;) I think college is actually tougher than NFL to pick against the spread. Hmmmm, Ohio State is favored by 73 points over Pacific, yeah I'll take the spread. .......d'oh!!!

I love the high spread games. The highest I think I ever took was probably Texas (one of my two favorite teams) over Baylor with a spread of something close to 50. Yeah, the score was 42-3 Texas at the half. They ended up covering. :D

I remember Florida game with the spead at 55 against Central or Southern Florida (can't remember which). I took the bait that they'd only be able to win by 54 or less and they ended up winning by over 70 *sigh*

Wasn't that a backdoor cover????

Let me ask this real quick... Navy/Temple... Why is Navy only 29 point favs? This line should be in the 30's, close to 40. Is it a book trap??

Too bad that was last year's game and I didn't bet last year. The game I was referring too was the year before where they won 62-0. The spread was much higher than 27.5!! ;)

Are the half a dozen games with lines marked off(0) going to be zero for good or will they post a line before saturday? Possibly a dumb question but I have never played yahoo pickem' with the spread before.

Spartan -- the games that are marked with OFF (0) will not have a spread on them. Consider those gifts because I believe most of them are solid ranked teams playing not so good teams. What happens in the pick 'em leagues is that they have the spread when it first opens up (they use Mondays cause that is when the NFL lines are usually posted for the next week, college lines start appearing on Sundays in/on different sports books) on Monday. The line then changes daily depending on the number of people actually betting on the game. (If you notice the VT/E. Carolina game is opened at 24 which is a great number. Everyone and their sister have put money on VT, so the line instantlywent up to 26. People still threw cash on VT so it crawled up to 27.5. I actually saw it at 28.5 on one sports book that I visit.) So they show you the line movement for Tuesday and Wednesday. Whatever the lines end at on Wednesday night is the FINAL number that we get to use here in the pick 'em league. So all the ones marked as OFF, that is your spread...basically you just pick a winner and not worry about a number. Now to answer your next question (which I am going to assume would be your question) why is it marked OFF? The games that are marked OFF are games that sometime on Wednesday night (could be earlier and the books haven't a line) the books found out a significant variable that could change the game, i.e. the starting QB is hurt and won't start, so they take the game off the table until a new line can be set. The other reason a game is marked OFF is when the game is never put on the books to begin with. Those games are usually when the line would be ridiculous like 50-60+. Or when Div. I teams play a Div. II team.
Hope this helped! ;)

Thanks KK. I'll get at least six right. I wanted to make sure that yahoo was not going to post a late line. Saturday mornings in the fall don't work well for me.

I hope the other games (Pick'em with and w/o spread, salcap and survival) too. I'm just clueless when it comes to college sports.
