Milbury has axed Sterling as head coach of the Isles. What a mess that team is in

Indeed.

Milbury is a goat.

The only good thing he has done is trade Bertuzzi to the Canucks. Yes, good for me, not for the Isles :p

I think it was a good decision :)

Don't start that, the Islanders have traded enough talent to make a mini-allstar team.

I hope this kicks Yashin and Zhitnik into higher gear if they gel with the new coach.

i'd love to see a list of all these players.. just the few i can think of off the top of my head (bertuzzi, chara, luongo, torres) is pretty amazing but i know its a lot more.

MILBURY is def the problem.

The Matt Millan of the NHL. GO LIONS

It is amazing how many coaches a GM can get away with blaming before the sports world puts on the presure. GM's seem to be pretty untouchable.

If anything can be said about Mike Milbury is that he is a proven survivor.

Agreed. And they both have the initials MM.

They are more untouchable than the coaches but I disagree.

On a talk show in NY, they said that if Millen and Milbury were on Survivor, the show would never end.:D

It's amazing how long a leash you get with an owner without a clue...

Milbury should have been gone a long time ago

HOW DOES MILLBURY STILL HAVE HIS JOB

he doesn't

well, technically he deoes, but only until they find a replacement. They said trading deadline would be best, but for sure before the next draft.

According to TSN, Milbury is also getting released from the GM spot

yeah, just read about him giving up the GM spot... but he did get 'bumped up' to President of the Islanders... so he's still a survivor ;)

He got moved to president of something but it's not hockey related.:D

Because I didn't know where else to post this, why do I keep seeing Millbury's dumb face during intermissions? If he was as big of a joke as a GM as most think he was, why is he in a position to voice an opinion on the game ever? Am I missing something here?

Yeah, when you look at his trade track record in regards to trading away prospects, he should be the last person on the list when it comes to a hockey opinion.

I actually kind of enjoy him as a TV personality.

He's probably better as a TV guy. This way he has no impact on a team's future or the owner's finances. And I'm pretty sure everyone is aware of his record so take his advice with a grain of salt.

You always need that ignorant unthoughtful opinion otherwise it's be Bobby Mac and Darren Dreger giving the honest goods each week.... need someone to voice the opposite way out there opinions.

I don't know if it gets any better than HNIC on Saturdays...with Coach's Corner and the Hot Stove and then all the other intermission stuff with Hrudy et all. I love it.

Hrudey is the only good one there IMO... the rest are so pro-Leafs and brainwashed by the CBC it's not even funny.

Hrudey, Bobby Mac and Darren Dreger would be the most solid panel I've ever seen.

At least change is coming to the team, whether through deadline deals or this summer.

Weight, Comrie, Sillinger, and Guerin are all UFA at the end of this year... or in other words, 14M in cap hit. They are 8M below currently, giving them a lot of breathing room, + likely a top 3 draft position in the summer.

At least they can mulligan.

I found it hilarious when Pierre McGuire was sliding in the jabs about the Islanders during the Wings/Pens game yesterday. You could tell Milbury was getting pissed.
